The Rangiora Photographic Society was formed over 60 years ago by a small
group of enthusiastic people with a common interest in photography and a desire to
share their knowledge and experience.
Today, RPS has a thriving membership of well over 100 photographers covering a
wide range of ages, photographic skills and preferences.
There are many reasons for RPS's success as a club including a vibrant
programme of relevant and engaging speakers, exciting field trips, challenging
competitions, informative tutorials and various workshops covering such topics as
mat cutting and Photoshop skills. But possibly the single biggest factor is the
members themselves. RPS members have been described as 'the lively bunch' - full
of energy, fun and a passion for photography that is so infectious that it is
sought out from people all over the Rangiora, Kaiapoi , Oxford, New Brighton and
Christchurch areas.
While digital photography has been embraced by most photographers in the club,
there are still a number who prefer to use film or transparency or who use both
types modes interchangeably
