The Rangiora Photographic Society welcomes all to come and sample our club nights and activities. We pride ourselves as being a friendly club that provides support to allow people to develop as photographers.
We have developed an exciting programme of fantastic speakers (the Canterbury photographic talent is truly amazing) at club nights as well as workshops, competitions and field trips.
If you are just a beginner, or an experienced photographer, we are the place to be.
You will benefit immensely by:
- Sitting in on or even facilitating a tutorial or workshop. Workshops cover a range of skills including the basics of composition and exposure as well as lighting, Photoshop and the mounting of prints.
- Listening to the various high profile guest speakers at club meetings.
- Entering club and external competitions and benefiting from the evaluation and helpful tips from experienced photograhers.
- Attending day and overnight field trips and night shoots. Our overnight and long weekend trips have included Stewart Island, the Otago Rail Trail, Moeraki, Lake Pukaki, Omarama, Kaikoura - in fact anywhere where there is amazing scenery.
- Networking with other members and sharing your valuable knowledge and experience with others
- Participate in the running of the club by organising and leading a field trip or some other activity or joining the very busy and proactive active committee.
- Participate in exhibitions
- Have access to publications, and other photographic clubs and societies
- Make many great friendships with other like minded people.
- Affiliation to the Photographic Society of New Zealand.
- While the technical side of Photography is so important, RPS also strongly believes that photography is an art form and encourages the development of both sides.
- The club is extremely rich with members who have vast experience and knowledge in all fields of photography and supporting software and who will always be keen to give you the benefit of their knowledge.
